Whipped tallow sunscreen? Yes, really.

Hi Reader!

Have you ever flipped over your sunscreen bottle and not recognized half the ingredients? Same. That’s exactly what sent me down the path of making my own.

This week I’m sharing my whipped tallow sunscreen — and it might be my favorite tallow recipe yet. It comes together with just a handful of nourishing ingredients (grass-fed tallow, shea butter, beeswax, and non-nano zinc oxide), and it whips up soft and fluffy — more like a luxurious body butter than a sticky lotion.

A few reasons you'll love it:

  • You know exactly what’s going on your skin
  • It’s deeply moisturizing, thanks to the tallow
  • One batch costs a fraction of the fancy “natural” sunscreens
  • It's easy to make and doesn't take very long.

Green Tea Sugar Scrub Bars

Hi Reader, Summer has a way of asking a lot from your skin — sun, heat, chlorine, salt water, sweat, you name it. Lately, I've been leaning back into green tea. It's one of those ingredients that just quietly does its job, no fuss, no fancy packaging required. A few reasons I keep coming back to it: Rich in antioxidants that may help support healthy-looking skin Traditionally used to calm and soothe overheated or irritated skin Naturally refreshing, which makes it feel extra good in the...

Hi Reader, You know that moment — you finally sit down outside with your drink, the sun's going down, and bzzzzz. The mosquitoes found you first. I'm sure you know the struggle. My DIY bug spray was the most-read post on the blog last month. If you haven't made a bottle yet, it takes 3 ingredients, works on ticks too, and it's safe for the whole family — no DEET required. And if sprays aren't your thing (or you want something for a purse or pocket), I also have a solid balm version. It's made...

a bottle of diy facial massage oil and a jade roller

If you wake up puffy (hello, summer heat and salty snacks), a quick facial massage is one of the simplest natural ways to de-puff, ease jaw and brow tension, and get that fresh-blood-flow glow. All you need is 5 minutes and a few drops of the right oil. I have a new post shows you how to make a simple DIY facial massage oil with essential oils, plus the exact 5-minute routine — just...
